This 26,000m2 hill-and-pond, wandering-style Japanese Garden was built inside Daisen Park to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the incorporation of Sakai City. It comprises three scenes with the Togendai plateau on the south side, and the Ishizukei river meandering from south to north, with low-lying land on the north side. The seasonal beauty of its flowers and greenery can be enjoyed throughout the year.

This is a culture and tourist facility that shows visitors the charm of the history and culture of Sakai, using the life and times of Sen-no-Rikyu, the legendary tea ceremony master, and Akiko Yosano, a feminist author and poet and a pioneer of modern Japanese literature, both of whom were born in Sakai. In the tea house, visitors can experience an actual tea ceremony.

Kishiwada Castle

The “Hachijin no Niwa” in the castle is a garden that was inspired by the “eightfold battlecamp formation” of Zhuge Liang (Kongming), a hero who appears in the Records of the Three Kingdoms, a Chinese historical text. The view from the castle towe is also spectacular.
