History of NANKAI
Nankai Electric Railway:
Proud to be Japan’s first private railway company
Founded in 1885, Nankai Electric Railway Co., Ltd. was the first provide railway company in Japan to be established purely by private capital. From our Namba terminal in Osaka, our trains operate to Kansai Airport, Wakayama and Koyasan.
In 1994, with the opening of Kansai International Airport, we began operating train services connecting Kansai Airport to Namba, and introduced our flagship advanced design service, the Limited Express Rapi:t.
