A Gourmet trip in Tezukayama
Tezukayama area in Osaka is not only famous for its residential neighborhoods but also for its many hidden gems of delicious eateries. This time, we will introduce four places including cake shops and cafes that are within walking distance from the station.
Located about a 10-minute walk from Tezukayama Station, "POIRE Honten Tezukayama" is a long-established Western confectionery shop cherished by locals. The retro exterior has become a symbol of Tezukayama's streets.
The first floor serves as the sales space, while the second floor functions as the cafe space. The interior, featuring a white and gold color scheme, exudes a refined and chic atmosphere. Special attention should be given to the dedicated lights shaped like Mont Blanc and the framed design drawings, showcasing the shop's meticulous interior design.
The cafe space includes not only table seating but also reservable private rooms. You can enjoy an elegant moment in this special atmosphere.
Located approximately 9 minutes on foot from Tezukayama Station, Chevron Coffee Roasters is a popular café where you can enjoy freshly roasted coffee. The elegant and chic interior, exuding a foreign ambiance, attracts local regulars as soon as it opens.
The name "Chevron" is the name of an island on Australia's Gold Coast. The owner, who worked as a barista locally, brings a unique Australian style to the coffee. The coffee is meticulously roasted in small quantities, ensuring excellent aroma and flavor with fresh beans.
About a 6-minute walk from Tezukayama Station, "Cafe CHABO" is a hidden gem located on the first floor of a retro apartment. This cozy cafe is run by a wife who loves both eating and cooking and a husband with a deep knowledge of coffee.
Opened six years ago, CHABO took over the location of a long-loved local cafe. The name "CHABO" is inspired by the term "茶房" (chabou), meaning tearoom. The warm and nostalgic atmosphere adds to its charm.
It's about a 13-minute walk from Tezukayama Station. "Shinshinsha" is a café with a lush green entrance as its landmark. It's a popular spot where you can enjoy cute menus that change with the seasons.
Inside, the décor is woody with vintage and antique interiors, creating a stylish atmosphere. The owner's passion and sense are evident throughout.
Adjacent to the café is a pottery class and the owner's studio. Through glass windows, you can see pottery and brass accessories being made.
The pottery and cutlery at Shinshinsha include handmade items by the owner. The cutlery, matched with the menu, is all charming, tempting you to take photos.
From the interior design to the menu and cutlery, Shinshinsha is filled with the owner's playful spirit. There are also semi-private tatami seating areas in the café space, making it a comfortable choice for families with children.
