Koyasan World Heritage Digital Ticket
Koyasan is registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site under the "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range" and boasts a magnificent scenic beauty concentrated with history, culture, and nature. While temples are generally thought of as a single building, Koyasan is referred to as an "issanjou naichi" (entire mountain precinct), meaning the entire area of Koyasan is considered the temple grounds—Koyasan itself is one large temple.
There's a great ticket available to visit Koyasan at a discounted price!
About 1,200 years ago, Koyasan was founded by the monk Kobo Daishi Kukai. In 2004, it was registered as a World Heritage site as part of the "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range," and it has since attracted many visitors from all over the world to this sacred place in the sky.
Accommodations called shukubo (temple lodgings) have existed for a long time, and from the Edo period onward, ordinary people were allowed to stay.
In addition to accommodations, you can enjoy delicious and beautiful vegetarian Buddhist cuisine (shojin ryori).
Guests can wake up at the same time as the monks and participate in the morning prayers.
During the stay, vegetarian meals are served, prepared without using any meat, just like the monks.
For those who wish to experience Japan’s Buddhist culture, this is highly recommended.
