Ōizumi Ryokuchi: A Guide to Attractions, BBQ, and Access Information
Ōizumi Ryokuchi is a lush green park where visitors can enjoy the beauty of nature throughout the seasons. With playgrounds, a dog run, and BBQ facilities, it is an ideal destination for outings with children and pets or for engaging in sports. This guide will introduce the attractions and access information for Ōizumi Ryokuchi.
Located between Sakai City and Matsubara City, Ōizumi Ryokuchi is one of Osaka's four major green spaces. It was first planned in 1941 as part of Osaka’s urban green initiative.
The park features universal design elements, making it accessible to all visitors. Highlights include the Fureai no Niwa (Interaction Garden), which embraces a Western-style theme with sensory experiences, and the Kakitsubata Garden, where visitors can see rare Japanese irises.
With a variety of facilities throughout the park, Ōizumi Ryokuchi attracts visitors of all ages.
Despite being in an urban area, Ōizumi Ryokuchi has a dense forest that offers a refreshing escape. The Fureai no Niwa consists of four themed sections: "Kitchen Garden," "Sound Garden," "Color Garden," and "Fragrance Garden," allowing visitors to engage their senses with nature.
Another must-see is the Kakitsubata Garden, where traditional Japanese iris flowers bloom in a serene water setting. Additionally, in spring, the park is adorned with approximately 600 cherry blossom trees, attracting many visitors for hanami (flower viewing).
Ōizumi Ryokuchi has three playground areas, making it a paradise for energetic kids.
Wanpaku Land features a colorful forest castle and jungle gym.
Kaiyū Land has a sea theme, with an octopus slide and a large ship-shaped playground structure, which is a favorite among children.
Bōken Land offers giant slides and large wooden play equipment, always bustling with activity.
For sports enthusiasts, the park offers a variety of facilities.
Cycle Doronko Hiroba is a professional BMX motocross course with challenging terrains. Although it hosts official competitions, there are no rental bikes or helmets available, so visitors must bring their own equipment.
Other facilities include baseball fields, artificial turf tennis courts, a ball sports field, and a general sports plaza.
Ōizumi Ryokuchi is an excellent spot for BBQ lovers.
GoodBBQ Ōizumi Ryokuchi offers a hassle-free BBQ experience with food and equipment provided by staff, eliminating the need for preparation or cleanup.
The park also has free BBQ areas where visitors can bring their own grills and ingredients for a casual outdoor meal.
For those who wish to spend time with their pets, the park opened a new dog run in 2023. This dedicated space is primarily for small dogs weighing under 10 kg.
